WE ARE AT THE TOP!
HOME CARE MEDICAL RECEIVES
HIGHEST ACCREDITATION AWARD!
Home Care Medical knows you expect the best from your health care partners. We expect the best, too. That is why we recently sought our seventh consecutive accreditation from the Joint Commission. And, we are proud to announce we earned the Gold Seal of Approval™.
To achieve the highest level of accreditation, Home Care Medical demonstrated its compliance with the Joint Commission’s standards of quality and National Patient Safety Goals. Joint Commission standards address the organization’s level of performance in key functional areas, such as patient rights, patient treatment and infection control. Standards focus not simply on an organization’s ability to provide safe, high quality care, but on actual performance as well.
Compliance was demonstrated during our on-site survey conducted July 29 – August 1, 2008. The survey included:
- Home visits with our home care technicians, respiratory technicians and respiratory therapists to observe patient care, instruction, equipment handling and infection control
- Observation of pharmacy technicians to ensure maintenance of sterile technique while compounding medications
- Ttracing of patient care from intake to delivery to claims processing and billing
- Interviews with staff to determine level of knowledge, understanding and application of corporate policies and procedures and clinical policies and protocols
The Gold Seal of Approval™ means Home Care Medical is committed to giving safe, high quality health care and to continually working to improve that care. We demonstrate that commitment by:
- Requiring all team members to attend Med University – a comprehensive and in-depth home medical equipment industry education program
- Performing patient home safety assessments and reporting unsafe living environments
- Improving the effectiveness of communication among caregivers and working closely with all service providers involved in the patient’s care
- Instructing patients and caregivers on the use of equipment
- Providing comprehensive training and follow-up to our patients receiving high tech therapies (including ventilator, tracheostomy, IV) and their caregivers
- Providing comprehensive follow-up and compliance monitoring of our sleep apnea patients (CPAP)
- Monitoring our enteral and pharmacy patients for adverse drug reactions, problems and responses to medications/formulas
- Adding to our inventory of quality, cost-effective equipment as new products enter the market
- Providing product and therapy inservices for our referral sources to assist them in selecting the most appropriate products for their patients
and more…
